citing a book in an essay paragraph

You would use a superscript 1 next to the source. Then at the end of the paragraph list the book authors publishing date etc etc.

That is a Footnote citation. Used to help keep the essay uncluttered, it is a numerical reference that corresponds to the footnote given at the bottom of the page, citing the source. Many internet sources are not credible, however the sources that THEY used might be. You may read something on Wikipedia (which most professors will fail you for citing as acredible source) which will reference, however, the source the poster found it from, which may be credible. Such as a news article or scientific organization. Find the root of the information on an uncredible source, and you may find the credibility you need.

It depends entirely on what format (MLA, APA, etc.) your instructor wants you to use. In most modern systems, instead of using the superscript note system, you place the citation information in parentheses directly after the referenced material.

i was taught something like this:


and the world is round becuase of the theories stated by bob (Bob's Book of Theories 17).

like u write the title of the book and then the page number, and make sure to put the period after the last parantheses )
