Yes. All states have laws against gambling. Some states allow gambling for church or non-profit related activies (Catholic Church bingo night, Veterans bingo night) Some states allow private businesses to have gambling, like casino river boats or casinos, or state lotteries. Indian reservations have gambling privileges. But I believe every state has a prohibitition on gambling unless there is some degree of oversight by the state. The states want to be able to collect taxes on the gambling. Other states prohibit it entirely.

Every state at least regulates gambling. Some states ban it. There is nearly always an exception for state lotteries.

potsie88 said there is no Federal law against on-line gambling. There is a Federal law against transmitting wagering information across state lines. The nature of the Internet make it impossible to do anything on-line and be guaranteed the information is not transmitted across state lines.

In South Carolina it is illegal. They removed the video poker machines from all public areas around the same time we voted in the state lottery - who can figure - I actually know a friend who was arrested in a private home for playing poker! Good ole boys in the south!!!!
