It shouldn't hurt but why bother? It only takes a few seconds to take it off.

can't find anything that says it would be a problem. Pewter used to be used for plates and drinking glasses, so I'd guess water doesn't affect pewter.

pewter is a washable metal and patinas with age and wear. so it just depends on how strong the chain is and such just like any other piece of jewelry

IT shouldn't but if it is thick it wont but if it is thin you more than likely shouldn't!
