Who needs algebra. On Saturday she earns an extra 8 * 2 = $16 compared to her weekday rate. Take that away from $142, leaving $126 for 18 hours if they were all worked at the weekday rate. Divide 126 by 18, and there you are - answer C, $7.

Let W = weekday salary per hour.

5x2xW + 8x(W+2)=142
10W + 8W +16 = 142
18W = 126
W=7
