The Camry is a better value due to long term reliability ratings, the Altima is not as reliable. The Camry is a good car it is basically a Lexus ES350 toned down but it has the same engine. Also consider the Honda Accord EX V6 thats another great car to consider.

+modern design, because thats how they sell,
+some say they have more power than the camry

Neither.
Honda accord!..will outlast both. looks better. Its quality not crap.cheaper then both too.cheaper maintance.cheaper to maintain.cheaper parts.more parts widely available.less problems.
an accord would be a better investment. we just traded our 03 accord v6 for an odyessy. we loved it!
