your doctor should have told you this, but the rule of thumb with the pills...and one would assume with the patch is if you put it on when your period starts your fine, other wise wait one week (7 whole days)...or a whole month if you really want to be safe.

Right away if you put the patch on during the first 24 hours of your period or 7 days. I'm not going to bother reminding you of sti's like everyone else since for all I know you are married or in a monogamous relationship or perhaps you are responsible and got both yourself and your partner an sti test. It's rude to assume otherwise.

Any form of birth control that adjusts your hormones can take up to three months to be completely effective. That, and it's always reccommended to use a barrier method along with the pill or patch, to avoid STD's as well as up your chances of avoiding unwanted pregnancy. Friday is too soon to risk, if you ask me, which you did.

a least a month. but you shouldn't be having unprotected sex even when you're on birth control, because there's chance for accidental pregnancy, unless you're doing it with your husband, then otherwise is okay, if not, you don't want to have unprotected sex, and not only a small chance of accidental pregnancy, there would be disease.

24-48 hours tops. After that, you can go at it like jack rabbits for at least a month. Have fun!

Never. The patch won't protect you from AIDS, or any other sinfully transmitted disease.
