How do you dress like an awesome, authentic 80's rock star?

I need to make the perfect Halloween costume. I only have the rock star wig so far.

Can any of you 80's freaks help a guy out? Thanks.

There are two ways you can go with this....hey! I am not a freak!.... (okay, maybe I am).

1. There is the David Lee Roth look--the tights (maybe red), a big bulge up front (maybe a sock or maybe your just blessed) , a v-neck t-shirt (ripped down the middle to the breast bone, and tucked into the tights), a big belt (try a black leather or a girl's sash). You want black leather boots. And, to top it all off, you have to have the wild jacket (a black leather bomber-type jacket will do. Be sure you put some shoulder pads in there, and for the REAL 80's touch, push up the sleeves to your elbow. Oh, and somewhere (around the waist, the neck, or in the hair, there needs to be a very LOUD colored scarf... The true 80's rocker wore eyeliner, foundation, lipshit, glitter on the eyelids, and jewelry... no kidding. It was called Glam Rock.

2. There is the later (and in my opinion better) 80's look. Think Bon Jovi. Think straight leg jeans, a skin, skin, skin tight (probably nylon) shirt, and, again, that bomber jacket and black leather combat-like boots. Or, a denim vest ( a denim jacket with the sleeves cut off to make it a vest...). This look is simple b/c it is ALL in that hair!!

1980's men's fashion isn't much different than it is now. You might want to do the Hippy thing. Like dress up like Cheech & Chong. You might not like the look of them but yeh it was the 60's and 70's and we all enjoyed them.
