Im 31 weeks pregnant (7 months) w/ placenthia previa. I had a really bad contraction last night but only one but since then I feel like my legs are being ripped away from my hips.. And the pain is not going away. I have no tummy cramps at all.. But my hips and back feel like they're broke... I can hardly stand because of it... I cant lay down or sit or anything coz my legs feel like heavy logs.. Is this a sign of early labor?? If so why is there no tummy cramps???

I would call you doctor ASAP, just to be on the safe side. I doubt you are in labor, but with placenta previa, you have to be careful. It is possible that you threw your hips out of alignment or something and that is why they hurt. If you get the ok from your ob, maybe you should see a chiropractor.

Im pretty sure its not labour pain but im not an expert nor have i had my baby yet but i am going through something similar

ill be 34 weeks tommorow and my hips feel like there dislocating especially when i put on my pants or step into the bath tub it hurts soo much my doctor has told me that its normal since the hip bones are relaxing and spreading out so the baby will be able to come out

My back also kills me enough to drop me to my knees sometimes docotor also says its normal painful but normal

at your next visit you should really ask your doctor about all this if your really worried

I suggest that you call your doc or the nearest hospital. Placenta previa is not something to guess with...you could very well be in labor with "back labor" or it could just be Braxton Hicks contractions. There could also be some other problem caused by the previa...please go to the doc...don't jeopardize the health of you or your baby!

My labor was all back labor, hardly felt anything in the "areas you think you should".

Being only 31 weeks, I'd definately call my OB just to be sure.

You and baby are better safe than sorry.

I didn't have stomach cramps until I was 7 hours into labor. All my pains were in my back. But those sound like false labor pains. But honestly, better safe than sorry personally.

Back labor occurs in about 25% of all pregnancies. It's when the baby is facing the mother's abdomen. (posterior position) It could be this. Call your doctor immediately, get to a hospital.
Best wishes to you.

Maybe you're suffering from Braxton Hics (False labor pains) My mom had that with my siter and had to make 3 trips to the hospital, finally she went into real labor and my sister was born perfectly healthy?

well it doesnt sound like labor, but it doesnt sound good either, go to emergency. It's worth your baby's life for you to find out if something is wrong. And if not... oh well. I went into the e.r. when I was 8 months pregnant cuz i thought my water had broke. It hadnt... turns out i pissed myself lol... i can laugh about that now, but at the time, i was scared.

You should really call your doctor. Placenta previa can cause a lot of complications. Good luck!

Nope, not labor. It's your body's way of getting ready though. It's a hormone called relaxin and it's loosening everything up. Good luck!
