Absolutely not. One of the major mandates of the USPS is to provide "universal service". This means the postal service must deliver to every household in the USA every day. It also means that same charge of .39 will apply to every first class letter whether it is going across town or over 3000 miles from Wash DC. to Hawaii.

If the the post office was privatized, other companies would creme off the lucrative markets and leave the poor and remote areas without service at a reasonable price.

The Post Office brings our nation together for a fair value for written communications.

Absolutely not. The USPS mails my letters anywhere for less than 50 cents each and does it without any taxpayer revenue.

Compare that to several dollars with FedEx or UPS.
