Generally you are obliged to purchase this sort of insurance at the same time as the machine, so basically they are getting your money free for the 1st year at no risk to them.

The vast Majority of electronic items that go wrong do so within the 1st year

If the machine goes wrong after a year it will most likely be obsolute and they won't be able to get the parts to fix it anyway, check the policy wording to see what they offer in that instance.

Damage to the machine would most likely be covered under your house insurance, so there's little point in paying for more.

In essence, no, save your money

Why should one? A computer isnt really worth guaranteeing as what may defect or malfunction in it maybe something of less signifincance which could be easily addressed by the end-user.
When you look at the long run cost, the cost of guarantee will be much more than the cost of getting another computer if the computer fail which I do not think can happen unless the user of such a computer is a 'wrecker'.
Generally, computers arent worth insuring or guaranteeing. Manufacturers only want us to feel safe to buy their products, its a marketing strategy now commonly used.

depends on your PC, there are certain Dell's ( the optiplex) that have issues with the power supply burning out, and cost is around a hundred to replace the part, if you have one of those, maybe, depends on the cost to renew. If you have a clone pc you might want to renew, but for the most part, the stuff that may break can be easily replaced by yourself and there are thousands of stores/sites you can purchase hardware from and get very reasonable prices. If you have the money and don't want the hassle of doing it yourself or you don't know how, then yes renew your warranty.
