I have found that it is a matter of two things: One, some have not completely read the bible or read it correctly. I'm serious. I have asked some Christians where in the bible does it talk about homosexuality (for example) and they had no idea where! Just going by what they were told. If some don't read the bible, how will they be able to come to reasonable conclusions on such topics that sometimes involve a biblical standpoint? Two, some just simply have different opinions on the bible. For example, the trinity. Some Christians believe that John 1:1 is proof that the Father, Son, and Holy spirit are one, and other Christians (like me) feel that that verse was meant in a figurative sense. You see how differing opinions can lead to disagreement?
