The questioner chose a poor analogy, but the point is valid: as long as there is a demand, there will be someone to supply it. It's why we will never eradicate drugs, or illegal immigration, or alcohol, or abortion.
But pro-lifers can't have it both ways. They can't support the death penalty. And they are obligated to teach birth control in school. If you don't want abortions, you have got to provide a means to avoid conception in the first place.

Hi, I think your argument may have some strengths, but you make some pretty large leaps in logic, in terms of equating abortion prohibition with alcohol prohibition. Just consider cultural differences between the '30s and now and I'm not sure we're not talking apples and oranges.
Nevertheless, it seems to me the real crux of the pro-life / pro-choice debate is this:
1) Either the fetus is a human being, which makes abortion murder, or,
2) the fetus isn't a human being, which makes abortion something else (the definition that results doesn't necessarily make it an acceptable act, but it does mean the definition would need to be refined more than I think it has been).
Isn't that, essentially, the real bottom line choice that the pro-choice advocate has to make?
Best to you.

You don't get it and you never will. Roughly half of the people that disagree with Roe v Wade do so on Constitutionality grounds - that the Supreme Court overstepped its Constitutional authority over state's rights - the right of states to govern. The other half of the pro-life people object on the grounds that life begins at conception. A life is being sacrificed for the sake of convenience - it's inconvenient to have a baby at this time in my life. Selfish, immoral, and irresponsible. There are numerous forms of birth control at little or no cost - just ask my 10 year old for the condoms passed out in his "health" class at public school if you need to borrow one.
An overwhelming majority of people in this country (both pro-life and pro-abortion) oppose late term or partial birth abortion. A majority of people in the country also support parental notification and/or parental approval before a minor undergoes an abortion.
To compare alcohol prohibition with abortion truly shows your ignorance and lack of an thread of morality in your fiber. I will pray for you.

I think Murder should be banned and I believe it would work much better than prohibition did. I think theres a Big difference between Murder and Beer. Although there are many who abuse Beer and end up killing others. In my opinion Abortion is pre meditated Murder.

Banning the killing of innocent human life would be bad? If it were criminalized, it won't stop all abortions, that's true. No more than prohibition prevented stills in the woods. But no government should condone the murder of innocent human life!

haha...yeah, who does the government think it is telling us not to murder our own children! Spies! All of them!!
Please. If you really cannot see the difference between abortion and alcohol consumption, there is no need discussing this with you.
Umm...you want control over your body, but, clearly you can't handle it or you wouldn't have gotten pregnant, now, would you.

It probably won't work, but I think it is an absolute atrocity to kill innocent babies. Abortion as birth control is murder and disgusting!

Opposite of "pro-life" = "pro death"
Medically necessary (rare), not a form of birth control.

Actually, what I think is most ironic is that the same pro-lifers who think it's an atrocious crime to kill a nonviable lump of cells tend to think it's totally fine that our actions in Iraq have led to the deaths of over 650,000 Iraqi citizens.
Nobody ever lost money overestimating the hypocricy of the masses.

Well, considering the punishment for murder is death, a few people who got an abortion getting AKd down should lower the abortion rate.
