I have been on line answering questions about pregnancy & the majority of females who seek answers are 16 or younger. Can you explain to me why so many parents can't keep leashes on their young & keep them off wellfare. This is ridiculus teenage mothering & wellfare children due to this growing epidemic. This to me is worse than illeagal immagrants.

I have noticed that too. So many girls asking the most fundamental questions. Doesn't anyone teach about contraception? This is really sad if you ask me.

I can only guess that you do not have children of your own. Or if you do, they are young. Most parents try, but try as they may, it is hard to be there with your child at all times. I think that it was wrong of you to put all parents and all teenage girls in one group. Not all teenage girls are having sex. Not all are on welfare. But just like with anything, there are a few that "ruin" it for everybody. But to call it an epidemic? Heck, why don't you just call it a pleg? I do think that there are more and more young parents, but that doesn't make them bad people. Welfare is there to help people. It doesn't mean that they will be on it for life. Everybody goes through hard times. But comparing it to immigrants? WOW...that's kind of low. If this bothers you so much, I just hope that you can be the 21st century "leave it to beaver" mother of the year.

HELLO? This isn't a female world question. Don't the male's have a responsibility here too? YES THEY DO! Before this huge upsurge of teen pregnancies, boys had more respect for girls and girls had more respect for themselves. This isn't about being prudish...this is about being smart. Guys had to work harder at getting to the intimate level, so they had to treat the girl better. Girls weren't going to allow just any guy to get that far, so they demanded more respect. Now...it's almost cool to have intimate relations with the first one who comes along. as if the chances of having a baby are A) not that great, and B) the girls mentality is...who cares if you do? Your friends do and they're just fine. The guy's mentality is "So, she can have an abortion and if she doesn't, I'm not paying support because I didn't want the kid in the first place." How STUPID is that?

I have to wonder, if they FORCED guys to pay support...how many of them would take birth control seriously.

Down below to Katy G...I'm here to tell you... condoms DON'T split like that. If they did, the condom companies would be sued and wouldn't even exist. If you know someone, or especially more than one person who became pregnant from a split condom, it was either outdated or their lying.

i don't think it's the issue of keeping a leash on their child, but teaching them how to handle themselves in that type of a situation. also, many parents make it hard for their children to talk to them about these sensitive issues. if parents were more open with their children, maybe 16 year old kids wouldn't ask complete strangers questions about pregnancy and parenting and "what to do when" but also, not all teenage parents are bad parents. not everyone believes the state should pay for and raise a child. some people do take responsibility for their actions.

I would agree with you that teenage pregnancy is a problem in this country.
However I would like to mention that maybe the reason that so many of the questions that are posted on here are from very young girls is because they are the ones with little access to good information. Young girls tend to spend a great deal of time on the computer and also to look to the computer for answers, literally and figuratively.
At least the girls that write in on here with questions found it in their hearts to give birth to their babies rather than to kill them. If we were not so unkind to young girls who found themselves pregnant maybe so many of them would not take what seems to be the easy way out and abort their baby.
It is not easy being a young mother, lets not let our attitude be another road-block that these girls have to face. I for one want to do all I can to help them and I admire the parents that stand beside them and do all they can to help in a difficult situation.

Because the parents dont seem to care what their children do. They think they'll be safe, if the kid is protected by the parent or has a "leash" on as you put it, then they're most likely to go off and do the bad things. Common sense! think bout it!

i totally agree with most of the answers here. its totally wrong. where i live there are so many young girls going out and getting pregnant just for the money especially the $4000 paid out upfront. then they palm off the kids on weekend and go partying for nan and pop to look after and ending staying with them. the world that people are being brought up in these days doesn't help though.

Many girls today are growing up without a strong father figure in their lives. Without a father, they then seek love and attention from men outside of their home. They will fall for any guy who will say the right things to them because they crave this love from a man. It's a sad world we live in.

dont worry, their children will all end up being raised by their grandparents anyways. My mom had me when she was 14. My grandparents raised me, and there is a whole epidemic of this. My daughter absolutely will be on birth control when she turns 13. There are a million parents who will say i'm just giving her permission to be permiscuous, but at least I wont be raising my grandbaby

I agree with you, but I am 16 and I know what teenagers must be feeling. I, personally, am not as stupid, but with peer pressure and the amount of drugs being passed around, I'm suprised that not everyoen is pregant by now. It's pathetic, I know.
