a really fun & decent place in MGM is 50's Prime Time Cafe. This is a sit down restaurant so you should make reservations (or try to eat at an off hour, like 3:00 pm). Most of the counter service places have really decent food.
Cosmic Ray's in Magic Kingdom has good food (burgers & rotisserie chicken)
There is a counter service place in the Land section of Epcot, Sunshine Season Food Fair (I think that is the name). They serve some good food there. Nice variety. (last time I went I had grilled salmon-yummy)

You can get some decent sized meals, and if you want to save some money, you can share meals. (We often do this- it saves money plus you have "room for dessert"!)

If you really want to get a better idea of what types of restaurants are there purchase a good guidebook, such as PassPorter's, it should be available at your local bookstore. That book gives a really detailed description of restaurants (as well as many good hints and tips) For the restaurants it even tells you what type of food you can get, what the atmosphere is like, and a rough estimate of the cost of an average meal!. I have purchased and browsed through many guidebooks (I could probably write one by now!), and I have found that to be the best.

Enjoy your trip!

Like everyone has already mentioned, nothing is cheap in Disney. However, here are some tips for you to help save money:
1. Instead of buying colas all day, buy a bottled water. You can
refill it at any water fountain.
2. If you aren't interested in a big meal, there are stands where
you can purchase turkey legs (HUGE), egg rolls, hot dogs, or
even McDonald's french fries.
3. If you are staying at a Disney resort, you can always go back
to your room for a quick picnic lunch, or go right down the
road to any fast food or local eatery.

NOTHING is cheap at Disney, Univesal or MGM: bottom line. Shine up your Visa card---and get ready. The World Pavillion (a part of Epcot) features dining from all over the world ( Italy is my favorite ). You'll easily spot the "cafe" style dining spots that are pricey, but "OK".

Oooooh.....gotta check out the 50's Prime Time Cafe!!! In this place, the kids RULE and the grown-ups get mildly scolded by the waiteresses!!! THAT was pretty cool. Oh....and if you're there, order "Electric Ice Cubes" with your drinks!!! The kids will LOVE that!!! Food there was SWELL, too!!

Dining there was fine 50's Americana at it's finest.....right up to being introduced to our foreign accented waitress.

There is really nothing "cheap" in Disney but then again I don't know what you consider cheap. In the Magic Kingdom and most of the parks they have smoked turkey legs that my husband always gets and they are appx $5 and they are huge. Good Luck KG

As other people have mentioned, Walt Disney World is not cheap. However, there are quick service restaurants where you can get a meal for just as much as, or even less than a meal at McDonald's. The quality's better at Walt Disney World, though. Here's some of the "cheap" restaurants that I like and would suggest...

ABC Commissary at Disney-MGM Studios. I really liked the Cuban Sandwich here (but it wasn't as good as the one at Bongos Cuban Cafe at Downtown Disney.)

Avalunch & Lottawatta Lodge at Blizzard Beach. If you go to this water park, you may eat at one of these places. The seating areas fill up quickly and are packed. The wraps there are pretty good.

Boardwalk Bakery on Disney's Boardwalk. This place is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. There's plenty of choices and a lot of great pastries.

Earl of Sandwich at Downtown Disney. This place is pretty popular, and the selection of sanwiches is fabulous.

La Cantina de San Angel at the Mexico Pavilion at EPCOT. I really wasn't sure about this place, but I actually really liked the food here. The seating is outdoors, there's umbrella-covered tables, many with a great view across the World Showcase Lagoon. The line for this place is usually quite long, but it moves fast. I liked the burritos and tacos.

Leaning Palms & Typhoon Tilly's at Typhoon Lagoon. If you go to this water park you may want to eat at one of these places. They're similar to Avalunch & Lottawatta Lodge at Blizzard Beach.

McDonald's at Downtown Disney. If you have kids with you and you're looking for a chea place to eat, you ccan't go wrong here. Just get 'em a Happy Meal.

Pizzafari at the Animal Kingdom Park. The mini pizzas and bread sticks here a great. It's also a really nice restaurant. There's different rooms with different themes, and the whole restaurant is painted so colorfully.

The Plaza Restaurant at the Magic Kingdom. This place isn't too expensive, it's a nice restaurant, and there's a nice selection of sandwiches.

Starring Rolls Cafe at Disney-MGM Studios. This little place is becoming very popular. There's all kinds of pastries, sandwiches, etc.

Toy Story Pizza Planet at Disney-MGM Studios. Of course, this place serves pizza, but like the real Pizza Planet, it's an arcade, too.

Another great place to eat would be the ESPN Club on Disney's Boardwalk. The food's little more expensive, but the portions are huge. My boyfriend and I together couldn't even finish half of the nachos as our appetizer. You could get the nachos, chieckn wings or tenders, or a salad and split it, and then maybe split a wrap for an entree. I love the club wrap, I have it every time we go. For dessert, try the Hockey Puck. Absolutely delicious!

Now, each of the Walt Disney World Resorts has a quick service restaurant that offers food for fairly cheap, too. They all have the same menu, pretty much. So if you're not out at the parks, there's a place nearby to eat.

Another thing, bring snacks and bottled drinks with you to save money. Just a bottle of water is nearly four dollars! When we went in August we brought a lot of bottle water, Gatorade, Snapple for me, and all kinds of snacks like Pringles, Pop Tarts, granola bars, beef jerkey, Planter's cashews, etc. We brought stuff that we knew wouldn't get crushed in our bags at the airport and on the plane, and stuff that would be easy and somewhat light to carry in a backpack around the parks. When you enter any of the parks security will check your bags, but they don't mind the snacks and drinks, so don't worry about that. It helped out a lot. When you're at the parks sometimes you don't even have time to eat. You don't even notice, you're having so much fun, and all of a sudden it's nearly dinner time. We skipped lunch a lot and just ate snacks if we felt hungry at all and we were fine. It's also great for at the Resorts when you don't want to leave your room to get something to eat.

Anyway, hope I could help. Have a great a vacation!

* I listed mainly all quick service restaurants because you most likely wouldn't find any other restaurants to be "cheap" at all. Any of the sit-down, table service restaurants are quite expensive. The person below suggested Artist Point at Disney's Wilderness Lodge. It is a gorgeous restaurant with a fantastic menu, but it's very expensive, or more than you'd hope to pay, I'm sure. On the Walt Disney World website it's in the "$$$" category, which means meals typically cost $30 to $50 per person. I assume it costs $30 to $50 per person if they buy the cheapest items on the menu. When my boyfriend and I went to Walt Disney World in August we ate there our first night. Our meal cost about $130, or so, just for the two of us. I didn't mind because we were on the dining plan, but for someone who's looking for "cheap" places to eat, I wouldn't recommend the restaurant. However, if you plan to have one nice night out and splurge, this would be a nice choice.
