Andy Rooney said on "60 Minutes" a few weeks back:

I don't think being a minority makes you a victim of anything except numbers. The onl y things I can think of that are truly discriminatory are things like the United ***** College Fund, Jet Magazine, Black Entertainment Television, and Miss Black America. Try to have things like the UnitedCaucasianCollege Fund, Cloud Magazine, White Entertainment Television, or Miss White America; and see what happens...Jesse Jackson will be knocking down your door.

Guns do not make you a killer. I think killing makes you a killer. You can kill someone with a baseball bat or a car, but no one is trying to ban you from driving to the ball game.

I believe they are called the Boy Scouts for a reason, that is why there are no girls allowed. Girls belong in the Girl Scouts! ARE YOU LISTENING MARTHA BURKE?

I think that if you feel homosexuality is wrong, it is not a phobia, it is an opinion.

I have the right "NOT" to be tolerant of others because they are different, weird, or tick me off.

When 70% of the people who get arrested are black, in cities where 70% of the population is black, that is not racial profiling, it is the Law of Probability.

I believe that if you are selling me a milkshake, a pack of cigarettes, a newspaper or a hotel room, you must do it in English! As a matter of fact, if you want to be an American citizen, you should have to speak English!

My father and grandfather didn't die in vain so you can leave the countries you were born in to come over and disrespect ours.

I think the police should have every right to shoot your sorry rear if you threaten them after they tell you to stop. If you can't understand the word "freeze" or "stop" in English, see the above lines.

I don't think just because you were not born in this country, you are qualified for any special loan programs, government sponsored bank loans or tax breaks, etc., so you can open a hotel, coffee shop, trinket store, or any other business.

We did not go to the aid of certain foreign countries and risk our lives in wars to defend their freedoms, so that decades later they could come over here and tell us our constitution is a living document; and open to their interpretations.

I don't hate the rich I don't pity the poor.

I know pro wrestling is fake, but so are movies and television. That doesn't stop you from watching them.

I think Bill Gates has every right to keep every penny he made and continue to make more. If it ticks you off, go and invent the next operating system that's better, and put your name on the building.

It doesn't take a whole village to raise a child right, but it does take a parent to stand up to the kid; and smack their little behinds when necessary, and say "NO!"

I think tattoos and piercing are fine if you want them, but please don't pretend they are a political statement. And, please, stay home until that new lip ring heals. I don't want to look at your ugly infected mouth as you serve me French fries!

I am sick of "Political Correctness." I know a lot of black people, and not a single one of them was born in Africa ; so how can they be "African-Americans"? Besides, Africa is a continent. I don't go around saying I am a European-American because my great, great, great, great, great, great grandfather was from Europe I am proud to be from America and nowhere else < /U>

And if you don't like my point of view, tough...

I PLEDGE ALLEGIANCE TO THE FLAG, OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA , AND TO THE REPUBLIC, FOR WHICH IT STANDS, ONE NATION UNDER GOD, INDIVISIBLE, WITH LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR ALL!

I was asked to send this on if I agree or delete if I don't. It is said that 86% of Americans believe in God. Therefore I have a very hard time understanding why there is such a problem in having "In God We Trust" on our money and having "God" in the Pledge of Allegiance. Why don't we just tell the 14% to Shut Up and BE QUIET!!!

I got sent this e-mail from a friend today. I found that I pretty much agreed with everything he said, he just put it into better words than I could have.

So let me make sure I understand this right. It is alright for television to show scenes of people having sex, using drugs, killing each other, cussing and other vulgar things, cause that is the freedom of television, but Andy Rooney needs to keep his mouth shut and not say what thousands of Americans want to say but don't have the opportunity? If he needs to keep his mouth shut on television, then the rest of that garbage needs to be blocked as well.

By the way, Andy Rooney did say this on 60 minutes. I just called my friend who sent this to me, and she said that she was watching 60 minutes the night this aired and that was exactly what he said.

haha...that was ******* awesome! Heck yeah he's right!

I dont think that anything on television should be blocked. Its pure entertainment, and what is seen on the news, is a truthful politically correct version of what is going on in the world. I agree with Rooney! He definitely has the right to speak his mind, let alone express what half the nation is ultimately feeling. He only put into words his view of how our society functions, and I agree with him 100%

The days of reporting the news in a pure and factual manner are gone and the news in general does have some bias. But, why should the news be any different.

Do you know of any art or journalistic content that isn't biased. How do you separate the man from who the man is?

Andy Rooney is reflective of many news and broadcasting stations. Where once Elvis Presley was not allowed to be seen from the waist down, on the Ed Sullivan show, the programs today need to be hard hitting and controversial and have a definite need to show and tell all or else fall victim to low ratings.

Whether or not what Andy Rooney said is factual and can be attributed to Andy Rooney, is immaterial. What matters is...television has matured enough, but not far enough, to allow the man, his thought, his opinions and conscience to be aired on t.v.

Now, if that same network television program, 60 minutes, would only allow John Q, Citizen to answer, that would really be great television.

Though originally a regular correspondent, Rooney now has his own "end-of-show" segment, A Few Minutes with Andy Rooney, in which he offers satire on a trivial everyday issue, such as the cost of groceries, annoying relatives, or faulty Christmas presents. Rooney's often irritable observations are frequently parodied. In recent years his segments have become more political, as well. For example, Rooney has become quite critical of George W. Bush and the 2003 Iraq War. Despite being known best for these segments, Rooney has always considered himself a writer who appears on television. His shorter television essays have been archived in numerous books, such as Common Nonsense, which came out in 2002, and Years of Minutes, released in 2003. He also has a regular syndicated newspaper column that runs in many newspapers in the United States. He has won three Emmy Awards for his essays, which now number more than 800. He was also awarded a Lifetime Achievement Emmy.

I think your friend sent you a lie which has been going round on the internet for a while. Check snopes.com

Andy Rooney may be a curmudgeon, but that doesn't give people like whoever authored this bunch of crap the right to put words in his mouth.

and by the way....Andy Rooney said, if he could find who put out these lies, he would sue them

Who cares what Andy Rooney thinks? He's an old-minded old man who is lucky to have a job doing anything. He can afford to spout off because he has an old-minded crowd who likes to hear him ramble. I don't agree with much of what he says, so I turn him off!

PS: That quote on him is a con. That being said, I still don't agree with many of his worthless comments. Also, as for The United ***** College Fund, Jet Magazine, BET & The Miss Black America pageant...all were created as African Americans were specifically excluded from those areas! Did you know that none of those companies/organizations exclude people of any race? Did you know that anyone of any race can attend an HBCU (historically Black college or university) and they can also apply and recieve scholarships from the UNCF? I've been on campuses and witnessed it for myself. Try working on getting your facts straight and not spreading falsehoods.

PPS: Either you are lying or your friend is lying to you and you believe everything she says. Andy Rooney has repeatedly denied this commentary and there is no locatable transcript from "60 Minutes" as proof.

Your friend lies. Period. You can call your friend as often as you'd like, but your friend NEVER heard or saw Andy Rooney deliver this piece. Because he never did.

Several posters here have provided the link to Snopes.com, the Urban Legends Reference website. Please go there and read the piece that has been falsely attributed to Andy for years.

This is a hoax that's been going around for quite some time. Although some of the sentiments may or may not be popular, someone felt strongly enough about it to fabricate a story using Mr. Rooney's name to give it weight.

Sorry,

I like and agree with almost everything he said, except the God part.
I can dislike it and say what I want because I am an American citizen.
It is America?
Right?
Isn't that what his ***** is?

It's hard to argue with any of that, because it's all true. I think we as a society are finally getting fed up with political correctness.
