My son is 9 months old and is currently having diarrhea because he is teething. First you want to make sure he is staying hydrated enough, so call his Pediatrician and check to see if you can give him some Pedialyte. Also, try mixing in some rice cereal with his formula to help stop the diarrhea (you can put it in the bottle with the formula) when you give him his bottle. If he has had two bowel movements in a row that are diarrhea then you need to make him an appointment. Good Luck. Oh, for constipation, you can try putting Oatmeal cereal in his bottle.

You are SUCH a good Mommy ......and your baby is SO lucky to have you ! Your hunches about your baby are ALL right .......YOU are his Mom. Keep doing what feels right to you ......if you give him 6 oz and he is hungry in 2-3 hours - give him 7 oz the next time. When he turns away from the nipple - try to give it to him ONE more time and if he lets go again - stop feeding him. IT IS POSSIBLE TO STUFF A BABY WITH FORMULA - THE ADULT IS BIGGER THAN THE BABY AND CAN JUST KEEP POURING IT IN. HE HAS TO SWALLOW IT OR CHOKE. Go by the chart and by how long your baby is happy between feedings. Don;t feed him till he starts to fuss ......then you'll know when he is hungry. To keep things simple you can make the bottles all the same .... 6 or 7oz (I wouldn;t go to 8 oz yet) ......but maybe he leaves an ounce one time and eats it all the next time. Go by your baby. You are not 'spoiling' him by picking him up .......he was close to your heartbeat and your warmth for 9 months .......he wasn;t made to face the world alone at 3 months ......the babysitter just doesn;t want to be bothered holding him all the time. (You can see her point .....but keep an eye on her - arrive early to pick him up ..... has he been screaming for half an hour ? Get another sitter) Make up the day;s bottles each with 6 or 7 oz in them (whatever you find works when you are with him) .....and just give her enough for the day. If she comes to your home - take the extra formula with you so she can;t make up more. I would aim for the amount of formula that keeps him asleep and happy for 4 hours .......I personally don;t like 5 hours - and longer than 5 hours he is being 'stuffed'. A baby from a family of tall big people does not eat more than another baby - just go by YOUR baby. No one listens to you because they are older and they think they know what is best. You have to find a way to get the other people who look after him to do things your way when you are not there .......you can tell them the doctor said "Not more than _____ oz at a time" Families always try to 'help' and you have to put some boundaries on what you listen to .....this is hard with a pushy mother or mother-in-law and aunts. If you can, get your husband to speak up and tell his relatives that YOU are the baby;s mother and he is being raised by you - not them. Best wishes !

When my son had a severe case of diarhea, for like 4 days. It got so bad that he was getting bad blisters on his little hiney. We took him to the Dr's and they advised that we put him on
Isomil DF, this comes in the RTF bottles and as far as I know can only be found at drug stores. Walgreens, CVS, etc. But always check with babys dr's first to see what to do

It could be from both or either the Isomil and teething. Both can cause Diarrhea. If it does not settle down in a day or so I would take him to the doctor to get proper medical advice.

I think it's the milk. But, better consult your doctor. Also, make sure that you use free diapers and wipes with Vitamin E. The hypoallergenic kinds make babies feel more comfortable. Browse this site http://www.upkb.com/diapers.php for more info.

All the others covered it. Just watch his water levels and make sure you have plenty of diapers and rash lotion. I would also wash his butt in the tub a good warm water soak to help ease the tenderness.

Formula, after being constipated, can be a form of laxitive for a baby. It is completely normal. No need to worry!
