I know that there is a way to read out the trouble codes on vehicles without having to buy a Code Reader, but I don't know how to do it on my 2002 Grand Prix. Who knows how to read the code and what website should I go to to get an explanation of what the code means for this car?

Go by the auto parts store near you and get the code read I have owned Pontiacs for 11 years now and have the trouble code libary.97 Pontiac GTP Grand Prix and now the 2006 GTO 6 speed. OBD2 cars do not display codes by shorthing the last two connections on the ALDL like older GM cars Now a days you have to use a code reader. Harbor freight and Northern Tool have them for 39 dollars.
By miles I can probably tell you have a P0420 code for cat converter under effencency. "Caravoince" or car mind reading.

This year model in between the Computers. IF, it OBD I you need a paper clip and Repair Manual from a parts store that give you the code meanings. IF, it OBD II you need a Code reader. I think this still OBD I you have. You short across the plug with the paper clip and read the flashes of the Check Engine Light. I see if I can find you something on-line if no one else does.
Yea, I not find anything. As stated below, get a Manual from a parts store and you know what to do, if, it OBD II you have to have the Code Reader. You may Try Auto-Zone if they around you and they may have a reader and check it for free.
