Maybe your father is racist, don't be too quick to think that. Give it some time, try explaining to your father.

Your father has his own set of ideals for your boyfriend, and it must not have included a racially mixed relationship.

He is only thinking of your well-being. In my region a white girl who is with a black guy will never again be able to date a white guy. She is shunned by them. If it is like this in your area, he is worried that you are now an undesirable woman.

When will he accept it? He probably never will. He may allow you to bring him to family dinners in 3 or 4 years, but that will be the best you can expect.

Please understand that I do not believe your father is right, but he is set in his ways and you cannot expect him to change.

Because your father is old school, and it is also an image of the "Black Man" that unfortunately has been kept down by low life black people, some white people do not understand that not all black people are thugs, it is also a peer pressure issue, "What will other people think?" he may never get over it, decide wether or not it is worth it to you and then hope for the best outcome>

I am a black woman that has dated many Indian/Pakistani man...
It is tough enough for me...and many people think I am Indian , I think that is how the attraction starts that i don't really have the obvious black features......
So I know it is tough for you. Tough isn't even the word...It is your culture..and you know in your heart it will probably NEVER happen. Since you are young, just keep dating have lot's of fun...but know your family is seeking the best possible match for you.
You would have no problem in the black community...I think many black women still r having trouble accepting white women that have taken our men....
One person stated rather meanly, that if you have black you can never go back...it's sorta true...if your prospective husband found out u had relations w/ black man, that may be a problem too!!
You are not really hurting yourself now...but you are hurting your black man, YOU KNOW you can never marry him...he is the one that will suffer....
In my situation I have simply stopped being attracted to Indian man...fortunately I have wonderful Pakistani man in my life...Islam is more accepting of different races it seems...

Insha'Allah!

* Oh! & listen to the hatred that is spewed out in these brief answers to your question....can u imagine how deep these terrible words come from?? And we r supposed to b helping you! It also shows u what these people think of THEMSELVES...this hatred has been pointed towards them!! that is the only way they have learned these awful remarks...

You sound like you don't care what the world thinks....and that's awesome...You do what you feel....but if you and your boyfriend face the world TOGETHER I think you will be just fine :)

Luv,
Shay

If my daughter came home with a black boy friend I would be short one daughter and the mental hospital would have one more bed filled.
He'll never forget it and you should be ashamed of your self.
Try to get some help fast you have a serious mental problem.

Your father does not have to accept anything. and just think now you will never be able to eat at your parents without hem wondering if you've given them something. Don't share with your siblins, as aids can be a lot easier to pass than you think.

You have put your health, family, friends health and future at stake.\
Ditch the guy and admit to your father you have wronged the family name and tell him how sorry you are.

ok lookie here! well first to the person who asked the question, you may not be able to change youre father views, thats something that you're probably going to have to deal with but don't let him keep you away from you boyfriend because that just lets him know that he has control over you and he needs to know that he cant control you for the rest of you r life. And love has no color. and second to all the ignorant people who gave stupid and ignorant answers, you need to wake up and smell the coffee sweat hearts. your blind and need to stop discriminating, cause one day you asses will probably be working for some of us "black folks". its 2006 get off the bs. and to the guy that was brave and said the n word you better not let me or any other black person on yahoo answers find you address!

My boyfriend is black too and my parents never accepted him. but they know how much i love him and do anything for him. Now 3 1/2 years later we are still together and my parents got over it like 2 weeks after they found out what race he is.

Depends on your father and how racist he is. If you and your boyfriend like spending time together then that is all that matters. If your father is a decent person he will eventually get over it when he realises how much you love eachother. Unfortunately this is a common thing with interracial relationships, whichever way it goes. But you know love sees no colour.

Your father probably won't get over it because he developed his beliefs a long long time ago which were probably passed on to him by his father.

You are taking a huge step by not following tradition. You accept your boyfriend based on his character and when you have children, you can teach them how to judge someone by their character and not their skin.

He probably thought he raised you good enough to have your pick of any white guy. Maybe you just wanted to stab him in the back on purpose.
