Did not use your printer for a year? You see, in that amount of time, the ink turns to STONE. See if you can clean the contacts and anything else around the printer.

You did not say WHAT BRAND, but some have nozzels that are a part of the printer. That is a replacable item, but I understand that they are expensive.

Others, the nozzles are a part of the cartridge, so they are NEW when you get new cartridges. But if these get clogged, you can open up the Printer Control program from your computer, and run a CLEANING Cycle. That would do the trick. My Canon printer is awesome. It has a Nozzle Cleaning option, Cleaning option and Deep Cleaning option.

Considering the fact that a printer costs between $80 and $120, don't spend too much on REPAIR. You might be able to take all of your unopened, and the new one that you opened to a good store like STAPLES, and use it for trade-in toward the new printer. Of course, the new printer will use a different cartridge.

In general, the manufacturer does not make any money on the Printer. All of the profit is in the Ink Cartridges. When you look at the cost of a Canon printer and the long term expense of the INK, you will agree with me, that this is the way to go. (I wouldn't trade my Canon for A FREE printer, since I am always saving on the cost of ink).

Good Luck

You probably have a canon Epson or brother that has the print head in the printer rather than on the ink jet cartridge. ERGO even with a new cartridge the print head is clogged.

You can try running a bunch of print head cleanings, however after 1 year it is unlikely that you will ever achieve a decent print quality.

Hello,

You most likely have an inkjet printer. There are little things called nozzels that shoot ink on to the paper, but after a year they get glued shut from the ink drying. You will need to buy a new print head, or get a new printer.

I recommend you get a new printer. An print head will probably cost about half thet cost of a new printer!

Sounds like you forgot to take the little tiny plastic tape patch off the printer heads.

Did you remove the plastic strip, if you did and it still does not work I would think that you need to run the cleaning on your printer...........I had not used one for sometime, when I put new ink in it would not print...........it took several cleanings to get it to print.........

How old was the "new" cartridge? They do dry up if stored for long periods of time.
