How about a little something soft, but with a little weight hanging down from the ceiling

Make it so it just hits the hood when you're in far enough.

I had to do that. My truck barely fit in the garage and had to be a scant few inches from the back wall of the garage to fit.

If not in far enough, the garage door would hit the hitch and go back up.

I tried 2x4's. I can run over a small log without any damage and a bit of a bump - I wouldn't even notice a 2x4. Besides, unless you want to nail them into the concrete, they slide really easily.

just park your car where you want then put a 2x4 down in front of the tire. then everytime you pull into the garage drive in until your tire hits the 2x4. or park your car in the garage and tie a string to the ceiling and tie a tennis ball to the other end. let the ball hang loose as it touches the windshield. then every time you pull your car in drive forward untill the tennis ball touches the windshield.
