How do Americans feel about Guantanamo?Do you believe in the noble mission of American troops in Iraq?I'm asking you as "humans". I saw many of the pics and vids and could hardly believe any human could be that gross...I mean even if it's your "enemy", there'a a minimal amount of humanity that we can all show, stooping to that level was more than just offending.
I'm an Arab, and like many arabs we watch American sitcoms and movies and we enjoy them very much.I watch "Friends" and love many American movies and have them on my PC, but I am feeling a contardition after having seen those Guantanamo pics... I am torn between feelings of admiration for a culture which I like in many aspects (But I love mine too..and a lot) and hatred for what I have seen.
Just tried to explain the feelings of some Arabs, that I claim ro represent.
(a whisper in your ears:"the noblest vengeance is to forgive.")

This is one of the many disgraceful situations the current administration in U.S. has caused. It is inhumane, against the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights and is shameful to Americans who believe in human rights.

Many, if not most, Americans abhor what has happened in Guantanamo. The Geneva Convention was created with a purpose and should not be violated. Yes, one can be very angry about terrorism and seek to punish the guilty parties, but a blanket should not be spread over the Arab nations as a guilty whole.
As a white woman, I have been attacked by angry blacks that my ancestors held their ancestors in slavery. This is ridiculous. I am not personally responsible for the crimes of other whites simply because I am white. Also, as many of Islam are raised to be peaceful, I was raised in the northern U.S. with the notion that we are all equal and that slavery is wrong, so where did this nonsense about "my" ancestors come from? Generalization.
BTW, loved the "whisper" -- too true.

i am a former military service member. i saw service in germany, desert storm and in the United States. I cannot say I believe in stripping every shred of human dignity from a prisoner. It goes against everything I was ever taught about keeping of prisoners of war in accord with the Geneva Convention which the United States military members are supposed to adhere to at all times. It does not matter that the prisoners may be terrorist scum that would like nothing more than to destroy every last man woman and child in the United States and it's allies.
As far as the people of the middle east. I cannot say i really hate any of them. I have known some very good men from that region, but I have also known some I wish would disappear from the face of the planet. I fully judge a man on his actions and nothing else. As far sa torturing prisoners I do not concur with this treatment as will any other proper American or American service member.

There were only two Rememberances in American History. Remember The Alamo!! Remember Pearl Harbor!! And now we have a third Rememberance........Remember 9/11 which was perpetrated by Arabs. Remember what the Japanese Admiral said after their successful attack on Pearl Harbor? "I fear all we have done is awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve". The Japanese Admiral was very prophetic.
Were you equally incensed by the photos of Americans being beheaded? Did those lopped off heads arouse your hatred? Does photos of dead Americans being mutitlated arouse your hate? And if the noblest venegeance is to forgive why are you so filled with hate?
I don't expect an answer. I am just trying to explain my feelings only. I do not purport to respresent any one.

Good point! Anyway, isn't it about time the U.S. returned Guantanamo to Cuba? Imagine if Cuba had a base in FLORIDA, would Americans ever freak out or what!

Where did u see these alleged pics? Al Jahzeerah? The terrorists are treatet humanely . They are wll fed and each is issued a Koran. In turn some of these prisoners choose to spit at ,throw feces at and otherwise mistreat the guards who are assigned to oversee them. No american has mutilated or beheaded aprisoner. Can you say the same for those you speak for?
