My mom won't let me go by myself even if I bring 4 or 5 other friends in my neighborhood. She says she has to be with me. Anything I could say to let me go?

Go with her this year and prove that you can be responsible.

Have your friends come along, so they can demonstrate to your mother that they are mature young adults, and perhaps 1/2 through the night she will be impressed and let you go off by yourselves!

Whatever you do, don't whine about it! She'll never let you go by yourself. You just have to prove that you are responsible on your own!

Pushing for something when your parents say no doesn't usually get you anywhere except on their nerves. And some times (although not always) their decisions are usually justified by something that has happened in the past. Maybe not something you did - maybe something going wrong in the neighborhood.

I would just play it safe. Ask her if she would be willing to take you to a mall or something instead.

Sorry, I was with you until the "she wants to go with" part. Okay, it'll be lame but it's better than not going at all. Either she wants to keep you out of mischief or is looking out for you. Either way, you'd be better off. Maybe you could get your dad to go instead. Or let her lag behind a bit within sight of you. Talk to her about it and try to come up with something you can both live with.

Get one of your friend's moms or older siblings to go and have them come to your house first so your mom knows that they really will be with you.

Tell her you or your friend will have a cell phone in an emergency! And go trick-or-treating in the same neighbor hood near your or your friend's house.

I agree with your mom. 12 is too young to be out unsupervised at night. You'll thank your mom when you have kids.
