It depends on when the next holiday is. They will either rush them or slow them to the shelves depending if it will be a money maker for the holiday.

Somewhere between 2 and 4 months. Depending on the film. It always seems like the bad ones come out sooner! haha.
But there's such a wide range, it's hard to approximate.
For example, a Christmas movie that was in theaters last year, usually wont come to DVD until the FOLLOWING christmas! which of course makes sense, because hey, how many people would buy those movies in april? But still, that's a whole year, so that shows just how wide of a time frame there can be.

It really depends on the film, the distribution company and time of year. For instance they would try and release a Disney film near any of the "kids" holidays (Xmas, Easter etc) There is no god given rule Im afraid

I would think that it would be around a year, but I think that sometimes they schedule all of this around the release of their next movie. The same with movies being show on TV. It seems like they like to help promote movies that will be released in the theaters.
