Whatever like terms, you combine.
FOR EXAMPLE.
7x2 + x
would e 8x2
So 8x2 - 10x
aka 8x * 8x - 10x. WHICH WOULD BE 64x - 10x.
54x. and you keep simplifying the LIKE TERMS. like the x's. =)

I think you need to review an earlier chapter. "Like terms" mean the same level of exponent, or lack thereof. Therefore, you put all the x^2's together, 7x^2 - 5x^2 + (-3x^2.) The + (-3x^2) means the same as -3x^2. So you would have (7-5-3)x^2 = -x^2. Then do the same for all the x's. X - x - 4x = -4x. You only have the one constant, which is 4. So the answer for 1. is -x^2 - x + 4. It means put all the squareds together, then put all the unsquared variables together, then put all the constants together, then you'll have your answer.

I'll do 1 and then you can figure out the other 2.
7x² + x -10x - x+ 4 - 5x² - 4x + (-3x²)
combine all of the terms that have x²
(7x²-5x²-3x²)+10x-x+4
-x²+10x-x+4
Then combine all the terms that have x
-x²+(10x-x)+4
-x²+9x+4
And you are all simplified.

Combining like terms simply means adding and subtracting terms that have the same power exponent.
In your first expression select all the terms having x^2 and add them algebraically 7x^2 +(- 5x^2) +( -3x^2) = 7x^2 - 8x^2 = -1x^2
Now do the same thing with all the x terms and you have combined all the like terms.

It means to combine the ones that are simular:
1. combine all the numbers with no exponet over the x like
-x,-10x,-x,-4x
so it would
-x+-10x+-x+-4x
and then you do this with the numbers that have a 2 over the x and so forth.
and then for the second one you have to do the same but to it with the y's and x's
Hope this helps
