I am doing it for free.. but I do not want to punch holes on this old time wallpaper looking for studs..Thank's Guys>>>MR BIG

I'm not surprised that your stud finder goes off everywhere! If there is acces to under the stairs (a closet or whateveer) you could go in that area and find where the studs are located. Sometimes in older homes that have stained trim you can see where it has been nailed and just level up from there. Older homes are constructed using what is called baloon framing, or the ceilings are framed inside the studs, not on top of the wall framing like newer homes. This shouldn't effect you though. You'll need to find at least one or two studs to figure out what the spacing is. In my experience, they didn't always use 16" on center way-back-when. I know how those MR. NIce Guy jobs can turn into a nightmare easily, been there done that. Good Luck!

goofy idea.......find a molly that will hold into the lathe boards.....there's many different types, they will say on the box how much strength they have, if necessary add an extra bracket along the run to be sure. That way finding the studs isn't as crucial and you will still have a solid secure project
