I have this absolutely stunning deep purple cocktail dress but it is very simple so I want some bold shoes to go with it, plus, I love to highlight my legs. The problem is, I can not decide what color shoes (I'm going for a simple pump so I can wear them again)- my first thoughts were red or a leopard print, maybe a yellow, but I don't want to go too cartoonish. I don't want white. Any suggestions?

Edit:
Here is a link to the dress. The image is brown, but the dress I have is dark puple, almost eggplantish.

pinky fawn colour, you can wear that with almost anything and will make your legs look longer - the darker the shoe the more it draws attention to length of leg, and feet ending like a blob!

Lovely dress!! I would go for at least a kitten heel - a dress like that looks better with a heel, even a 2", which is not very high. Even a slight heel does something to the way you walk and will make the dress 'swing' which is always attractive. Red would be good but then match bag and jewellery to the dress - red shoes become a focal point - I got a lovely patent pair from New Look @ £10 a couple of weeks ago - they're high but comfy - a blessing!! Other alternatives are black because you can wear forever or nudey-pink which will be an extension of your legs. I tend to match bag to outfit rather than just shoes - looks elegant and doesn't take away from outfit. Don't know how you feel about green but that looks good with purple, particularly the lovely emerald green thats popular now (& treat like red shoes). Agree that the silver/gold has been done to death, but if you must, go for a darker, pewter grey. As to leopard print, be careful and the same with yellow. If going for yellow, then use it like the red - on its own. Whatever you decide, I think you'll look beautiful!! Have fun!!

Depending on jewellery, I would use gold or silver accessories and shoes, and both colours would work with other outfits.

I would avoid red or leopard print, unless you want a fun look, as it would cheapen the whole outfit.

Black tights or stockings and classic black pumps would emphasis the length of you legs, so my personal preference would be for black.

Enjoy the event whatever you wear

Nice! likin ur style very sassy!

Heels would b great but if you want trendy & comfy go 4 the leopard print wi matchin headband scarf.

black n white prints r hot now so u could get a pair of kitten heels or pumps from Dorothy Perkins or New Look if my memory serves. They r doin a lot of animal prints in black n white like zebra or white leopard as well as the ordinary. New look had flat lacey ballet pumps in fawn covered with black lace as well as just black.

I think the silver shoes have been done 2 death but thats just me! There r loads of sparkly flats all colours but avoid red sparkly unless u want 2 look like Dorothy fae wizard of oz? Strappy sandals r just not practical this cold weather but look georgeous!!

For a bold statement, yellow is not to bad a choice, but neither is white. I would go with white. White and purple is a very royal color combination. Put on white pumps, pull out a white evening bag and jewelry with white gems (diamonds, cubic zirconia). You will be the star of the evening. And no matter what you where, if you where it with confidence, you'll look amazing.

I agree with the above; metallics are the way to go. A full shoe may be a bit much in metallics- maybe something that shows a bit more foot, like open-toe shoes or strappy heels? You'll still get a lot of wear out of them; my lovely strappy silver heels go with a lot of stuff in my closet. I bought them for a black dress, but they also look great with jeans.

thats a tough one. if I wore that dress, I would wear some color with the same brightness level as the dress, but not the same color (TOTAL CLICHE!!). I think a cute pink or yellow would be good. ...maybe even purple.

That is beautiful. I think that brown shoes would go perfectly with that color dress but if you are looking for something a bit more pizazzish I would check out yellow, gold or light blue shoes.

I know it seems dull but black is the best choice. It makes your legs look longer and slimmer. Also your right yellow and animal prints are a little 1980s. You could also try a silver or grey pump.

with a cocktail dress i'd def suggest a pair of killer heels in gold with a small gold clutch bag. maybe shoes with soles in a contrasting colour to the uppers? heels will highlight ur legs more than pumps, making legs look longer, they straighten ur posture and make u feel damned sexy into the bargain!
