Superman is nowhere close to being the toughest hero, between the main resilient yet no longer toughest. His protection potential he would not go through lots injury. Arnie used to be the best, then there was Sylvester Stallone, then Steven Segal, then Van-Damme, Bruce Willis(even Dolph Lungren had a go at action films - if you realy can include He-man in that - after rocky 4)
these days it is Jackie Chan, Jet Li, Yow Chun Fat, The Rock, etc
batman - even though he doesn't have super powers and is the best ever hero - is kind of a a cheat answer but is my favourite
