If we have comfort foods, and comforting activities, shouldn't there be comfort music? For those lonely, down times...

I love to listen to the sound track of Brother, Where art Thou.

Specifically "As I went down to the river to pray,"

It's not that I even agree with the whole theology of that song, but there is great comfort in the idea of extended family within faith and that we share a little bit of the same human struggles. Plus it's just a really pretty song.

Absolutely, since some people can change their moods by listening to different types of music. For me, comforting music is either uplifting contemporary christian rock, or, maybe some Euro techno (the "heavenly" feeling kind). The christian rock reminds me that i'll go through rough times but things will always get better, and that there's someone who'll always love me no matter what :)

I don't really have one type of comfort music because I like lots of different kinds, but here's what just popped into my head:

When you're weary, feeling small
When tears are in your eyes, I will dry them all
I'm on your side when times get rough
And friends just can't be found
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down

Actually, now that I think about it, it's those great classics from the 60's and 70's that make me feel better most of the time. I think it's because they remind me of home :)

I do have comfort music, CDs that only come out when I am feeling down or needing a little lift.

I listen to different kind of music depending on my mood. Music for me has a way of helping me set me to a mood i like!!
When im sad, i find i tend to listen to more Alice Cooper, AC/DC, Nine Inch Nails, The Crow Soundtrack, my Queen of the Da^^n Soundtrack, Pink Floyde, and Weird Al...
Sometimes i would listen to comedians like Robbin Williams, Jeff Foxworthy, and Bill Engvall!
