My mother-in-law is. She's weird, rude, disrespectful, dumb and about as annoying as they come. I can't stand her. I tried to keep a good relationship with her as long as I could, but she went way too far one day and did something crazy and bad and I decided not to take that crap anymore. I've kept contact with her to an absolute minimum since then, meeting her only a few times per year. I would have broken contact completely if I didn't think it would sadden my husband and cause him further problems.

I don't have a problem with my other in-laws.

My in laws are pretty good. My mother in law used to clean my house when they came down to our house(we live 120 miles away form his parents). I guess it wasn't clean enough for her. But when we go to their house it is dirtier than mine. She did that for about the first 2 years and now she just leaves my house alone. Good luck with yours though. Maybe they will mellow with time with any luck.

My father-in-law is cranky, conceited, argumentative and ignorant.

And I can't seem to avoid him.

No, I don't. Maybe I'm lucky.
