Being a natural born citizen of the USA I can't answer that question....never had to deal with it.
But if you want to come here then PLEASE do us all (yourself included!) a favor! Do it legally!
Even the loudest proponents of immigration enforcement (myself included!) can't deny that this great country was founded by foreigners! But this is the post 9/11 era we're living in.Things aren't as easy as they were before.
Check with the US consulate in El Salvador,or maybe a government agency of your own country.They should be able to steer you in the right direction.
Acquire your citizenship legally,and you and your children can hold your heads high and proud as true Americans!
P.S....this might sound stupid,but I LOVE Salvadoran food! Ceviche is my favorite!
