You didn't say artificial turf so the only difference between grass and turf is none. Grass is turf. On sports fields they use different varieties of grass than in a lawn--usually something very sturdy--but it's grass. You can ask whoever maintains the sports field what kind of grass it is.

Grass playing surface is plants, with dirt, and can be more slippery than synthetics. Some feel that grass is more forgiving during a fall or tackle.
Turf usually referrs to a synthetic carpet-like surface of green fibers/strands woven throuogh a base matrix. Usually, turf has a cushioning pad laid under it to reduce injury, though this pad can warp, causing uneven surfaces.
