I hope we make it into space... that's a good possibility.
I still have reservations about human society ever being peaceful... based on what we've seen through history I have to wonder about human nature? People fight even when resources are plentiful.
We can keep working toward peace.

My opinion.
The ideals in ST are good, but I don't think they're realistic. I believe that at some point that most humans will live in peace with each other (which is what's happening now), but there will always be some small group, be it other humans or aliens that will always be causing some sort of problem. Even in ST there were groups that cause problems.
As for living in outer space, other planets, what not. Yep, I belive it'll happen at some point, but not for at least several hundred years. Technology isn't progressing as fast as ST predicted. 200 years from now, we're supposed to be traveling faster than light. Reliable fusion power is still maybe 50 years out.

No , unless those friendly alien dudes come to earth to help us. If you watch Trek or Wars they "drive" around the universe like they are going from Philly to Jersey. Space is really HUGE, the distances are....Astronomical to say the least .. I know worm holes and the like .. But for real man unless those friendly alien dudes help we've got a long way to go. As for peace we've a looooong way to go.
Peace out dude

I love Star Trek, and I love to believe in the world that exists in the show. But I view it as pure escapism. Do I think that real people would ever live like that? Not a chance. People are essentially animals, with strong, primal instincts. The cognitive abilities of humans help them rise above their instincts, but for the majority, it is fleeting transcendence that can be quickly put aside.
Look at how quickly civilized people resort to "mob mentality". Look at how upstanding members of the community engage in deviant sexual behaviors such as lust and pedophilia. I think the trip is shorter to anarchy than many like to think.

Yes I do, that is if the human race lives that long and survives itself, but rest assure it won't be in our lifetime. I do not know if there are aliens out there like on Star Trek, but we "Would" be a very stupid race of beings if we were to think that we were the only ones that GOD created, now wouldn't we?

No. I don't think so. And I'm not convinced that it would be a good thing if I was wrong. Sometimes peace just means that something meaner than the opposing sides came along and pointed a gun at both groups telling them it would be in their interest to servive by being peaceful.
If you want peace the best bet is the Pax Americana.

I think that's what it will be like when Jesus returns to earth to defeat the forces of evil, and establish His kingdom of perfect peace and harmony. We may very well be granted inter-stellar space travel technology.
