You can turn 12/8 into 1 and 4/8, which is the same as 1½. Now add that back to the 12 you had before to get your answer:

13½

12 12/8 = 108/8
= 27/2
= 13 1/2 = 13.5

Ignore the 12 and just look at the 12/8. Divide 12 by 8 and you get 1.5 So add 1.5 and 12 and you get 13.5. Just one step at a time!

First take it to an improper fraction:

12 12/8 = 27/2

Then take it back to a proper and you get 13 1/2 :D
