if given a chance what specific changes would you advocate to fix the Constitution (i.e., making representation in both chambers of Congress based upon population, eliminating the Electoral College, weakening the powers of the presidency, requiring the president to obtain a majority of votes cast, easing the amendment process)? If so, do you think that the approach to government is consistent with the world in which we live?

I don't think the Electoral College should be removed. I think it has served a valuable purpose in the past. If it would not violate the free association clause and utterly impractical, I would advocate a constitutional amendment barring any one party from controlling more than 1/3 of the House and the Senate. I love the fact that the Constitution is so difficult to amend, and the only change on that score would be that I would place greater emphasis on enforcing the separation of powers and further elucidate what defines a situation that would require amending the Constitution. All in all, I prefer a more minimalist approach to government.

My change would limit the time the congress is in session thereby limiting the time they have to muck up this great country of ours.
FYI Clinton used his presidential powers more often to create laws without consent of the congress. Look it up.
Electoral process insures states rights. It would be horrible to be an true democracy, I for one do not have faith in the people.

1. No same sex marriage.

2. No same sex parents.

3. No convenience abortion.

4. Bring back harsh punishment where warranted.

5. Add an amendment which states that the Electoral College can never be removed, and provide the aforementioned harsh punishment for clueless people who suggest it.

Prohibit 'transfer payments' at the federal level.

To most of you, that's WELFARE and all the other government funded programs to take the money YOU earned and give it to someone else.
