many people find it almost impassible NOT to feel sorry for themselves when they are down. Why is it so easy to feel bad about yourself? If we were to set apart a few minutes each day to 'feel sorry for oursleves' and then move on with our day and consider ourselves lucky, would this method work? I don't usually feel bad, i was just wondering about indiviuals and natural human tendecy.

I won`t respond to the reasons why as others have given acceptable answers, but yes actually the method of controlled emotional regulation is a marginally good method of putting a time limit on this behavior. A better thing is to spend the same amount of time boosting yourself up with positive self talk.

2 reasons....

1. We our the center of our own universes and it is easy to feel like the world is against when nothing is going right.

2. Society has taught us that we are not perfect unless we are a certain way.

If we took more value in what our parents say to us about how wonderful we are than in the cover of a magazine, we would all realize what awsome people we really are.

Because we give in to the illusion which is perpetuated by humankind that we live in a world of scarcity, when in reality we live in a world of abundance. We simply can't perceive it. We are not taught to be grateful. We are self-centred and always feel as though we are not getting enough of anything, even if we have more than 80% of the world's population.

The basic reason to feel bad about one self is low self esteem , which most likely began in the early years of adolescence and one continues to carry for life , to deal with it ... one.. try to remember painful times and forgive trespassers , two... at the present, on the moment of feeling low turn your self into the feeling ... cradle it in your mind .. look at the feeling with compassion , separating your self from it , and hold it looking at it dissipate ... and then praise your self that you are a good person.
