Im in Alaska now, so I don't wonder about it too much . . .

one thing that irritates some Alaskans is that we want to change the official name of Mount McKinley to Denali, but some Senator from Ohio puts a stop to it each year . . .

Ohio should name mountains and rivers and towns and such in Ohio and leave Alaska alone.

I loved visiting Alaska. My family lives in Anchorage and have lived in Fairbanks so I have seen a lot of both cities plus surrounding areas. Gorgeous place!

I agree Mt. Denali should Not be renamed. That Ohio senator had better not touch The Sleeping Lady in Anchorage.

Alaska is a place where you can invite your worst enemies to visit the beaches!

Had a Moose in the front of my sister's Condo. It stayed there almost all day and I didn't risk going out.

Done all the tourist things and visited Trader Jack's and the Russian Tea house on the corner of 4th, I believe.

Wonderful place to visit.

How so do you mean "give it a chance". A relative of a friend lives and works in alaska kudos to him. I prefer warmer locations right now Ohio isn't one of them as much. So if I'm gonna travel it's going to be south. Plus all the mucking about to get a passport to go through Canada and whatnot. I'll just turn the heat up and stay at my computer.

Speaking as an Englishman. I`d say Alaska is alright. All that darkness in the winter must give you one hell of a vampire problem though.

I spent about a year up in Anchorage, back in the 80s. I remember the very long summer days, very short winter days, the northern lights, and all those moose that came into town in the winter. The mountains and glaciers were the most awesome thing of all though.

President McKinley was from Ohio. Ralph Regula is the congressman from the district where McKinley lived.
