Greatness can be achieved only through finding the truth and then living up to it. It is not that there is a recipe for achieving greatness, nor is it an absolute. It is something that has some recognizable features but not a fixed form. The simplest way of achieving greatness is meeting and living with oneself. Recognize yourself and then work to realize it fully. Cultivate and nurture what you essentially are and then live up to it. Chasing ideas and ideals of others to the neglect of your essential self, may bring you acceptance or popularity for some time, but not greatness: role playing by assuming a role which is not you can be a way of being a great actor, and for that too you have to recognize that you are an actor. And if you cultivate, nurture this ability after you have found that this is what you essentially are, then you are on your way to greatness. This does not mean stark individualism at the cost of interdependent equations with fellow human beings, it is about deciding on a step in the right direction.

That depends on what kind of greatness...
There is super stardom, where the person walks down any street, in any city/town, in any 1st world country, and someone will recognize the person... In that case you must have a talent like a good voice, be able to act, play a sport really well, stuff like that...
Then there is a more prestigious greatness... One where you may, or may not be recognized, and it doesn't matter if you are, or not. People like the Pope, Dali Llama, Mother Theressa...
These people want to see a better world. For this kind of greatness, all you need is a big heart.
There are other levels of greatness, such as...
The mother/father that always put the children first.
The stranger that gives you a lift to the gas station when no one else even stopped to see what was wrong.
The military, police, paramedics, and fire fighters that put their life on the line for you and your family, etc....
You want greatness, then be the best you can.

Well, you can't know that the path you take in life will lead you to eventually achieve greatness. Infact, you will never know when you have reached greatness. Take for example, Buddha. He was a prince who left his princely life, to experience the life of a simpleton. He did not make up his mind that oh..this type of life will lead me to become a great person. What Iam trying to get at is, just be yourself, or try becoming a better person, if you're not, and someday, you will realise that what you have been doing is actually what you should be doing, in life as a human being.

Define greatness. To me Greatness is the art of being a good person from the inside out. Money is no way to gauge greatness, as those that have money, are usually not truly happy or satisfied. But most people who are warm, honest, loving and forgiving are the happiest people around. Even if they are not a supermodel, or a CEO...there is so much more to life than that. That to me, is Greatness.

I wish I knew, for as yet I have not achieved it. Perhaps if I live long enough to grow into my innate potentials it'll happen. Or maybe I should just order a pizza and wings and not worry about it. To be serious, to do for my kids and society what my parents and lots of other parents did and do might just make me nearly as great as them. At least I live in hope.

first of all YOU must decide what greatness is and not allow others definition of what greatness is to determine whether you are great or not. secondly look at those whom you believe to be great and ask yourself why you would consider them great. then you must set for yourself a goal to become what you consider to be great. but here is also something you must understand people will judge you, so if what you do is to impress people so they can call you great , then you will probably fail. you must do what makes you happy and also share your success with others, not to make them like you but to pick them up as well. my mentor once told me that you can get anything in life you desire if you will help enough people get what they desire. so if greatness is what you want , them become the greatest helper of people, for the advancement of all and watch how greatness is achieved.

You achieve greatness by realizing your strengths (and weaknesses), utilizing them, and capitalizing on them.
If you look at many people that achieved greatness, they didn't wait for others to tell them what to do. They were leaders, innovators, and developed tremendous relationships with people.

You achieve greatness by serving others. You achieve greatness by being humble, by being others-centered, and compassionate. Greatness is, doing what you believe even when no one is watching.

Greatness is a state of being, it cannot be achieved, it simply is. Don't confuse greatness with fame or celebrity, or recognition of one's accomplishments. One can sit on the top of a mountain, alone, one's entire life, and greatness will occur

OOk, let us assume that God do not create anything less than great...with shortage of understanding we do not see that . To cover our shortages we created judgment which making things less or more, bad and good, right and wrong. In truth, that, mentioned does not exist, only in our polluted minds. So, everything is great including everyone. We are just not knowing that ..So, know thyself and you'll uncover your greatness.
