my mom wont let me have a cell phone unless i give her three good reasons realy realy realy good

as an adult I see only ONE good reason for a teenager to have a cellphone. That is EMERGENCY only. The Problem I see is that MOST teenagers are not responsible enough to do this. They think it is a right of there's to have a cellphone and a car, yet they don't know how to use either one responsibly. Your Mom is only trying to protect you from yourself. She Knows of the dangers of having one and all you can see is you want one and "all" your friends have one. In The Metro Atlanta area I live in we have weekly reports of teenagers killing themselves OR other people because they are in control of 4000lb missiles that they cant control very well, and they are on cellphones. Prove you are truly responsible and you Might get what you desire. Even then If I were to catch my Daughters Talking on the Phone while driving They would INSTANTLY lose BOTH PRIVILEGES. They may get the car for limited use but they would LOSE the Phone.You need a minimum of 3 to 5 Years of driving experience to do both, and then you need to keep it limited

If your out with friends, she can reach you. There aren't really 3 good reasons. But being able to get a hold of you seems like a pretty good one all by itself. You should ask her for rules regarding the phone. Like don't take it out at school( most schools take them away if kids are caught with them) She could give you a set amount of minutes (prepaid?), and in order to get more minutes you would have to put in extra chores, improve grades etc. etc. Agree to always ALWAYS answer when she calls, if you're going to the movies make sure she's aware of it beforehand. If your a good girl, she should give you a chance. She can always take it back if she feels you're using it abusing the privilege. And it is definitely a privilege. She's the one who has to pay for it.

heres what
stay at skool really really late when u come home and shes mad tell her that u had a meeting and couldnt get the use of a phone to let her know
remind her of all the good things u hav done( provided that u did)
tell and show her that u are mature enough to have one(startby not using the house phone as much and hav homework done b4 u use the phone)

here are 3 good reasons
1) If you ever get lost kidnaped or are in a dangerous situation you have a way to contact someone.
2) If you need to ask your mom an important q but your on the bus you can call her
and 3) you can be a click away from her at all times!

Then you probably don't need one. But, to help you, my Yahoo neighbor and Yahoo friend, you are epileptic, uncontrolled, and need one to use it to call for help after seizing?
You live in a high-crime area and need it to report crime, for your own safety?
Your job insists you have one!!!!!
You'd have more boyfriends and nicer girlfriends if Mom would pleaaassseeee let you yammer on the phone to the tune of $100.00++++ bucks a month....and the cost of all the phones you break and loose!!!!

1) You can be contacted immediately in case of an emergency.
2) You can call someone in case of an emergency.
3) You won't tie up your home phone line chatting with friends.

If you are ever stuck somewhere you can call her for help
If there were an emergency at school, You could call her before the school does
You could call 911 in case of an emergency

Text messages obviously! I would die without my phone! Also, obviously it's nice to have if you get stuck somewhere or just to be abel to talk without having to stay indoors. ummmm, theres really a ton of resaons. Why? Do u still use the phone in your house?

1 - In case of emergency
2 - So she can always reach you, even if you're somewhere without a regular phone.
3 - So that you can prove yourself to be responsible. It's a good test of whether you're ready for bigger responsibilities.

Erm...1)she can get in touch with you if she is worried about you...2)if you have any problem you can call her or the emergency services...erm those are the main ones really
