Go to Dunkin Donuts, interview the cook. I saw the school for DD's on Food Tv, it was very interesting, they have a gadget that puts a whole row of donuts into the oil. Ask what are the most popular flavors, how many people buy, how often the city inspects, whatever you can think of.

go to a local bakery, Krispy Creme, etc... and ask to speak with the manager. You may want to call first to set up an appointment and tell him what your assignment is about. Ask him if you could spend a few minutes with him during the day.
good luck

I donut whole. (Sorry, my computer can't pronounce well, I should have said, "I doe not know.")
All seriousness aside, ask your local Dunkin Donuts salesperson or manager. They'll eat it up.
