I completed a drug test and background test from my propective employer, but i used my brothers social security number because of problems with the law in the past. Everything came back fine...now I'm going to fill out the "I-9" form for tax reasons. But since my brothers social is similar to mine's, only difference is the last 2 digits, I will change the social on the I-9 form to mines. Question? Will this go okay? Will human Resources find out the difference? Will Human Resources recieve the I-9 form or will it be kept in the store. I'm a Retail Store Manager....Human Resource individuals may answer.

They absolutely will find out. Your SSN is tied to your social security account that you pay into (and your employer pays into) at every legitimate (not under the table) job. There is that factor as well as new hire reporting that many, if not all, states require (to catch those people not paying child support - men and women). If the name doesn't match the SSN they will flag it and notify the employer. Then there are people like me who work in HR who double check all forms and will catch it, drag you into the office and ask you what is up.
By the way, falsifying an I-9 is a federal offense. Best to just own up during the recruiting process about your past. Lying is always worse and will almost always get you fired.

That's hilarious and yes you're facing almost certain doom here. Also, and I need to be honest with you here no matter how depressing this is for you (but funny), by screwing with an SSN for employment purposes you're also pissing off the IRS who you might notice gets wind of those W-2's of yours. Taking that one step farther, you're local law enforcement may want to have a chat with you about ID theft. And they definitely won't care whether or not you claim that your brother 'allowed' you to steal his SSN - yea, that won't go over big with them. In fact, if I was you, I wouldn't even bring him into this, I would just take it like a man and own up. I mean, that is unless you want to get yourself in even more trouble by trying to falsify documents or trying to deceive HR even more.

It does not matter where the forms are kept you will be busted and probably prosecuted which will make your record even worse because you have committed fraud. You've just made it even harder for yourself to get a good job. You get what you deserve for lying. Bravo.

You're a fraud, a liar, and a very deceitful person. And you're a store manager? Shame on you.

Have you ever in your life thought about being honest and trustworthy? How about responsible? Where are your morals?

I hope I never ever have to shop in your store.'

Second chances are one thing, but lying to beat out other honest applicants does not qualify. Apparently you haven't learned your lesson. Own up to your past.

Wow - I hope they find out that you lied. Personally I would fire you on the spot if I discovered that you had lied to me and my company.

That is FRAUD. If they catch it, and they probably will, you will be fired. What the hell were you thinking?
