My niece drew some squiggles and a few letters on my Explorer paint job with glitter nail polish and I need to get it off without taking off the paint. This is a leased vehicle.

FZ or Flitz Metal polish will remove the nail polish without hurting the paint. It comes in a paste form. Apply a small dab of it on the polish and buff it with a soft cotton cloth. FZ and Flitz can be found in many sporting goods stores. I Have used this to remove my ex-wife's nail polish off the hood of my Navigator and it worked great.

Most of the cars today have a “clear coat” paint job that keeps the base paint from being damaged buy road tar and other contaminants. The fingernail polish unless I miss my guess is a lacquer base and if you use a lacquer thinner, you can pull the marks off without damaging the paint. Try it in a small area and if the base paint does not begin to come off you are home free. Once you have removed the marks the paint may be a little dull, that is when you get out the toothpaste and a soft rag and rub the area to bring the gloss back.

Try paint cleaning clay bar or a polishing compound. Apply wax on top after you remove it. If neither work, try nail polish remover on a damp cloth and work it in lightly. Just enough to remove the glitter. Last resort see if it can be wheeled out by a body /paint shop.

Did you try a product called Goo Gone? Sometimes is softens substances enough to remove. DON"T USE NAIL POLISH REMOVER!! Or that Tar remover stuff in the auto department.
