Wendy, is blood vcoming from yoour mouth? If yes there is lung inveovement and a quick taxi ride to the closest emergency room is indicated. Gastro intestinal bleeding is indicated by tarry blaxck inclusions in your stools. But red streaks in your stools indicates tears or lesions in the lower end of the large intestine or more likely still, in your rectum. (strain soo hard and voila red streaks. If there is a lt of fresh blood, take the taxi ride. The more seriouis hemorrhaging usually requires surgery

It really depends on the extent of the injury. Sometimes internal bleeding will heal itself and sometimes they have to operate to repair the damage.
