I think it's just and proper not to expect sailors to be infantry...Would America force it's sailors to Iraq ground duty?

WAKE UP! America sent it's National Guard to Iraq. The National Guard is supposed to stay home and GUARD THE NATION. Of course America would do such a thing. A precedent has already been set. On the question of fairness? It certainly isn't fair, but governments really don't seem to be care about fairness.

Military people (for the most part) volunteer to serve their country. So YES it is fair for sailors to fight on land. Soldiers have fought on water!! Many times. Take into consideration the Length of deployments for military branches. Army 1 year, Marines 8 to 12 months, Navy and Air Force 4 to 6 months. Does that seem fair?

We should just leave .

No it is not fair or a good idea to take someone from one military service to the other.

In a labour dispute the Employment Standards Act says an employer may not change the definition of employment and that doing so allows the employee to consider himself fired without cause. So they would be able to collect Emoyment insurance and just walk away from military service altogether if they so chose.

That said I am sure that the Armed forces and the ESA have nothing to do with each other - but they should
