I would think it is becuase it is such a good film and such a damning statement on modern day crime that it is completely enthralling. The clever trick of the film is give you titbits of many individual stories and you have to stay glued to watch how they interweave, collide and resolve.
I always think it's kind of like watching a portion of the modern world you would not normally be privy too, though you know it exists. A good film is always one which grabs and educates it's audience to the exclusion of all other things until the movie is over. This film is a superb example.

The story ropes you in for one thing, and supposedly that story took place in just 24 - 48 hours. I've got to go eat my Royal with Cheese!

Is it because all the clocks in the movie read the same time, 4:20? (Actually, thats just a myth, but the majority of them do read that time)
