I asked my accounting teacher to write me a recommendation for college but on the common app. it says it has to be a teacher who taught me an academic subject (english, foreign language, math, science, or social studies) Can accounting be considered a math course because I am going to school for accounting and thought that it might be a good idea to have her write the recommendation

No, it would fall under "Foreign Language". Actually it may be considered a Business Course. But, it say a Teacher that taught academic subject, and it is an academic subject. The list is just for example.

Accounting canNOT be considered a math course. It is an academic subject however, the closest I cam to studying maths in accounting was finance subjects.

Nope; not in the UK, anyway. A mathematician who's never studied accountancy will never be able to do a set of accounts, and similarly an accountant who's never studied maths will never be able to prove a proof.
