For starters, not only do you need to have a HD TV, but you also need to watch a station / network and it's HD version. Otherwise, you won't really see the difference.
The difference, though, is truly impressive. The HD has a much more sharp and clear picture than non-HD. I really thought it was just a ploy until I watched a football game in HD a few weeks back.
You're not going to suffer without HD, but like I said, it is impressive indeed!

There is a HUGE difference between the two. High Def is MUCH clearer and shows a TON more detail then digital. The problem is that you have to buy a TV that is HD ready and you have to call your satellite or cable company to get them to add high def to your service package which means more money out of your pocket. The TV itself will be $300 or more then a normal TV (do your self a huge favor if you go out and buy one don’t get a protron they are complete junk) and I’m nto sure how much it is monthly but I know it costs more, and not all channels come in High Def yet, but, by 2009, all providers are going to be 100% HD.
By the way HD = High Def

Go to any store that sells tvs and compare, you really have to see the difference. I know you have to pay more for HD television on cable. I passed on it. Both are still to expensive and the price of both will keep coming down.
