I have a 6cyl. 1995 Thunderbird. My car has two catalytic converters. One was rattling for about a month (it has stopped since). When the catalytic converter goes bad and I keep running it like that, what will be the internal damage to the engine?

Your car will not pass a smog check. It will not internally damage your engine, but will block flow on the exhaust in that bank.It will run like crap with enough blockage on one or both side's,but it would need substantial blockage to make the motor not run.If it was a year newer there would be problem's with the aftercat 02 sensor. But you could take your cat off and you should not see any ill effect's.

Catalytic converters are no longer required for a motor vehicle to run. they help autos meet emissions standards. on a similar time because it is technically unlawful to tension a motor vehicle that replaced into initially geared up with a catalytic converter devoid of one, no person might understand except they heavily examined the exhaust equipment. almost all autos produced formerly 1981 have not got catalytic converters.

When a cat goes bad it usually plugs up causing overheating which will lead to a burned valve eventually. Replace the cat to keep the engine in good running order.
good luck

Nothing. The rattle was probably the catalyst disintegrating . It may not pass emissions testing. Aftermarket cats are usually less than $100.

when the catalytic converter goes bad...or clogs up is the term...it will cause your engine to overheat...you will lose power.

If you have a problem with this item...fix it soon...because if you don't you will ruin an engine.
