Ok first of all, I did not call him Mr. as a sign of respect, it was a joke reffering to the old guy, and comparing them.

Yes, I think he cheated. Did this affect the outcome of the game? No! I still don't get why the MLB doesn't do anything but sit back and watch.

1. During the top of the first inning, St. Louis Cardinals hitters complained to manager Tony La Russa that there was funny movement on Rogers' pitches.

2. La Russa then took the complaint to the umpires, although he didn't formally request an inspection of the Detroit Tigers' starting pitcher.

3. Home-plate umpire Alfonso Marquez, according to supervisor Steve Palermo, then noticed that Rogers had "a noticeable dirt mark of some sort on his left hand," which, if it was determined he was using intentionally to mark the ball to cause funny movement, would be cause for ejection.

4. So Marquez had a conversation with Rogers and, according to Palermo, said, "Kenny, that dirt thing that you've got on your hand, if you'll do me a favor and just take it off."

5. Rogers, according to Palermo, then washed his hands.

Do I think he is capable of cheating.. Absolutely... Do I think he cheated last night.. No.. Because if he did.. it's by far the worst attempt at cheating since a nail file fell out of Bob Forsch's back pocket in the 1970s in between innings..

If Rogers was going to cheat, don't you think he would do a better job at hiding it, everyone and anyone close to the field could see the discoloration on his hand.. he's better off putting a 'foriegn substance' on his right hand inside his mitt, the bill of his cap or the inside of his glove... why put it where everyone can see it.. especially Tony LaRussa.. If he did cheat.. it was as bad an attempt as I have ever seen..

Given the weather that took place all day long in Detroit just before game time.. and that the field was uncovered for well over an hour prior to first pitch, I find it feasible that it was actually dirt caked on the resin bag.. it's the same color as what the resin bag was sitting on, and given that Rogers pitched first, makes sense why Weaver didn't get a mud ball in his hand..

Now.. I fully believe Rogers is capable of cheating, just like any other player at all levels who will attempt to bend the rules.. By it's definition, being honest is the thirdbaseman tells the umpire the runner was actually safe after he called him out..

That is as much 'integrety in the game' as anything.. But no player that wants to keep his jump would correct an ump that blows a call in his team's favor..

I doubt it considering after they asked him to wash off the alleged substance, the St Louis Cardinals couldn't hit him, just the the other 23rd consecutive innings in which no-one has been able to score a run off him during this post-season.

So any substance or question of cheating was only picked up during one innings of 23 innings and I dont think Mr Kenny Rogers needed it as he has show he can sing with the baseball and dance all over best hitters in the league.

So look at the facts and and substance was removed and didnt effect his performance. It St Louis who looks like they may need to cheat to get back in this Seires? I can see that from Australia mate

Yes, but I don't think it's the end of the world. I think many pitchers do. Rogers just needs a new trick now, this cat is out of the bag.

Yes, of course. But Baseball isn't baseball w/o this crap.

Remember Sammy Sosa? Caught using a corked bat?

Remember that Royal in the 80s or 70s who hit a "game losing Homer" to the yankees after being disqualified for his bat?

Who cares? Everyone I talked to doesn't. If so many of us feel that way I don't understand why the media continues to make such a big issue about it. They have so many more interesting stories they could be broadcasting. Everytime this issue comes up I change the station.
