Sandwiched between Ohio, Michigan, and Illinois which traditionally vote democratic, it seems there must be an explanation?

Ohio voted for President Bush in both the 2000 and 2004 elections. Both of our US senators are currently Republicans. 12 of the 18 US representatives from Ohio are Republicans. And the main campaign issue for the Democrats at the state level is 'The Republican administration has ruined the state'. What makes you think Ohio traditionally votes Democrat?

Becuase we aren't dominated by the urban welfare-dependant cesspools like Chicago.
