You might want to confront her and let her know that you know the things she is saying is not true. You can try to find out why she has to embellish her stories; perhaps that is what it is; wanting to "look good" or impress you, her friend. My sister used to do that and I had to talk to her about that. She still tells little tales but not as much as before, especially when I remind her that some of doesn't "ring true."
If your friend is mean to your other friends, you definitely have to discuss this with her. She may not know that she is being mean (or she could be doing it because she is envious that you have other friends).
You can be light hearted when you tell her..."now, girl, you know that's not true..." and laugh. That way she doesn't get her feelings hurt. Or if you know what really happened, you can say that.
I know my sister embellished to make the story more important or funny. Sometimes, she just outright lied. But whatever the case, I knew I had to confront her so that she would stop (at least around me).

Tell her she is only fooling herself, not others. And lieing makes her look ignorant. The truth always comes out. It might not be now or tomarrow or even soon, but the truth always surfaces.
Does she want people to lie to her? Because that is what will occur. What goes around, comes around to make a full circle. Send out negativity and it will return to you.
She is mean to others. Are you sure you want her for a friend?

Tell her you can't be friends with someone you can't trust Then walk away from it. Remember, if she lies about others, she lies about you. If she makes up stuff to make herself look cooler she's making up stuff to make her friends look uncool. She isn't worth your time.
Then, print this question and all the replies out and hand it to her, as you leave.
Let her turn it around before you place your friendship, your reputation, and the rest of your friends, on the line. People will sum you up based on her, that can't be good.

People who lie alot often suffer from low self esteem, even if on the surface it doesn't seem that way.. Call her on her lies, explain that you really accept her and if she starts with the rudeness, distance yourself and let her know why.
